CSCM / Uninstall

Uninstall CSCM

Remove CSCM from your device with the uninstall script, or by hand with the commands further down. Both remove the same things. Your worlds and backups are only deleted if you explicitly ask for it.

1. Delete your servers in the dashboard

If your servers use Playit or Cloudflare, delete them in the CSCM dashboard first. That removes their Playit tunnels and Cloudflare DNS records, which live in those accounts and can't be reached from your device. Local-only servers can skip this step.

Want to keep a world? Download a backup in the dashboard first, or choose to keep the data directories when the script asks.

2. Run the uninstall script

On macOS and Linux, open a terminal. On Windows, open the WSL terminal you installed CSCM from. Then run:

curl -fsSL https://lephor.com/cscm/uninstall.sh | sh

Open source: read uninstall.sh on GitHub ↗. The file on lephor.com is the same script.

Prefer to read it before running it? Download it, look through it, then run it:

curl -fsSL https://lephor.com/cscm/uninstall.sh -o uninstall.sh
less uninstall.sh
sh uninstall.sh

The script asks for your installation directory (default ~/cscm). Don't remember where you installed it? Type s and it searches this computer for CSCM installations, first through Docker, then through your files. The file search can take a few minutes, and macOS may ask you to let Terminal access some folders. Pick the right installation from the list.

Before removing anything, it shows what it is about to remove and waits for your confirmation. It then removes:

  • every Minecraft server container CSCM created (they carry the Docker label cscm.managed=true)
  • the CSCM dashboard and API containers, the optional Playit agent container, their Docker network and the locally built images
  • the installation directory, including the .env file with your saved Playit and Cloudflare credentials
  • only if you type delete: the data directories with your worlds, backups and account database
  • only if you say yes: the downloaded Minecraft and Playit Docker images

It never touches Docker itself or containers that CSCM didn't create. If some files belong to root, which can happen on Linux, it asks for your password to remove them with sudo.

Uninstall by hand

These commands do the same as the script. They assume the default paths from the installer, so adjust ~/cscm and ~/cscm-data if you chose others.

Remove the Minecraft server containers

docker ps -aq --filter label=cscm.managed=true | xargs -r docker rm -f

Stop CSCM and remove its containers and images

cd ~/cscm
docker compose down --rmi local --remove-orphans

Delete the installation

cd ~
rm -rf ~/cscm

Optional: delete worlds, backups and the database

This can't be undone.

rm -rf ~/cscm-data

Optional: remove the downloaded images

docker image rm itzg/minecraft-server:java25 itzg/minecraft-bedrock-server ghcr.io/playit-cloud/playit-agent:latest

3. Clean up your accounts

  • Playit: if the installer ran a managed agent for you, remove that agent under playit.gg → Agents.
  • Cloudflare: if you created an API token just for CSCM, revoke it in the Cloudflare dashboard under My Profile → API Tokens.

Docker, Git and WSL stay installed. Remove them separately if you no longer need them.
